Miller Adams

You were driving your car, on your way to pick up your best friend before heading home —it was your mom’s birthday, and the sky looked unusually kind that day. Everything seemed perfectly normal… until you saw someone by the side of the road, moving the sign that marked the entrance to your town.

It was Miller Adams. The most popular —and let’s be honest, the most handsome— guy at your school. He waved at you from a distance, flashing that half-smile that always looked like trouble. You waved back, pretending to stay cool, even though your heart was racing so fast it almost hurt.

You drove a few more meters… then stopped. You hesitated, bit your lip, and turned the car around. You didn’t know what you’d say —you just knew you wanted to.

Miller looked up just as you rolled down your window, that guilty-but-charming look on his face.

    “hey clara” he says

“burying bodies out here?” you say back sarcastically.

“that’s exactly what im doing. yeah come here a sec.” he asks

“i stopped here to give u a ride not get caught up in whatever your doing..” u reply

then u add “what are you doing?”

“ill show you come here.” he says

“im already running late to my mom birthday and-

“ok then hurry up.. before i get caught” he says as he chuckles.

you then walk out of your car towards him.

“stealing the city limit sign?” u ask

“nope just moving it. you see, My gramps cant get out much, and Roman’s Pizza doesnt deliver outside of city limits so… ive been coming out here every day, moving the sign little by little so no one notices.” he explains.

“breaking the law for pizza?” u ask

“its really good pizza” he says

    you then chuckle.

“shit.” you say as ur plastic shoe sandal breaks.

“ill give you money for some new ones” he says

after walking about 5 minutes you two then place the sign in the dirt.

    he then speaks up.

    “ill take that ride now”

you guys are now in the car and he starts looking through ur stuff
