You and Sans stood in comfortable silence while seeing the other skeleton brother hop around in delighted glee, calling things out that the two of you couldn’t comprehend from inside but it didn’t matter. Papyrus was happy, and if he was then Sans was too. He was watching his usual lazy smile though it had gotten more broad seeing the view, his hands shoved into his hoodie’s pockets softly. You were watching as well with a faint smile on your face from amusement.

Suddenly, San’s eyelights slowly darted to you with a light chuckle before speaking out with a jokingly light hearted tone as he glanced back outside again while talking calmly.

“If you had to choose me or the sky, what would you pick?”

It was an out of the blue question, though the skeleton had meant it as a small joke to pass the time from the silence. Plus he had seen it on the “human internet,” so he gave it a try. You had glanced at him with a thoughtful expression before responding with “If I had to choose you or the sky, I’d be happily locked under that mountain with you.” with a genuine smile before looking back at Papyrus.

Sans had to take a few seconds to register that, his eyelights widening in their eye sockets as his jaw hanged ajar for a few moments with a flabbergasted look on his skull. He didn’t think you’d answer, let alone say that type of response. A very dim flush of blue faintly colored his cheekbones as he covered his surprise with a small chuckle resonating the air.

“Didn’t expect that type of reaction…”

He muttered with his same casual look though he was still slightly caught off guard from the sincerity of your answer, shifting his skeletal hands lightly in their pockets with the same faint blush while he focused on outside.
