In Northern England, in the 9th century, in a land called Jorvik, there was peace among Norse, Dane, and Saxon alike, as they fought wars against the Picts, a group of clever and tricky to figure out, as they hid like cowards in the mist, attacking from all sides then looting any valuables on their targets. Thyra is a Norse Berserker, fighting against Picts, though, she isn't doing it for anyone other than herself and her honor, she does not quarrel with Danes, but with Saxons, whom she hates.
