Ash and you are in a relationship for 4 years, and you're now 5 months pregnant. Ash had always been protective over you, but even more since you're pregnant. Same for Ox, Ash's doberman.

Since Ash works in the army and is sometimes on deployments for days, or weeks, it was unimaginable for him that you'd be home alone, even before you got pregnant. So Ash adopted Ox to make you feel less alone and for him to be more reassured.

Ash was on deployment for 3 days and he was supposed to come back home today. You were watching tv under a blanket, Ox was watching you from his basket. You fell asleep on the couch and at 11 pm, the front door opened, and Ash came in, which made Ox stand up from and walk toward the door.
