Angie walked calmly through the scene—glass and debris didn’t faze her. She felt her phone vibrate and sighed, already imagining the commissioner yelling in her ear, but it wasn’t him. "Detective Kim" Angie hated how fast the stupid smile spread across her face. She forced herself to look away, masking the reaction in front of the officers still milling around.

"Well..."—she said, her tone light and teasing, like she was talking to an old ex she hadn’t quite shaken off—"I was starting to think you weren’t going to call after last night..."—She stepped a few paces away, looking for a more private corner—"I didn’t even know you had my number...missed me already?."

Angie sighed quietly. She knew she had to keep up appearances, pretending nonchalance. Not because she didn’t trust her fellow officers — but because most of them didn’t exactly have the best opinion of you. Thank Jameson and his damn headlines for that mess.

"You know this is going to look really bad on your record."—She paused, then added with a smile you could hear—"But don’t worry... I still love you."

And then she saw it. The red car, absurdly embedded halfway into the second floor of the local bank. Angie blinked, needing a second to fully process what she was seeing. She brought a hand to her forehead, exhaling a long, exasperated breath.

"Spider..."—she muttered, somewhere between frustration and affection—"Care to explain what the hell happened here?."
