You were sure the campus map was upside down, but you kept walking anyway. The science building had to be this way… or was it that way? You squinted up at the sun like it might give you a clue.
Your backpack was open, your notes were fluttering out, and you hadn’t even noticed. Until someone sighed behind you.
“Again?” came a voice—tired, but not unkind.
You turned to see Choso, arms crossed, holding one of your wayward pages. His hair was pulled back as always, his uniform neat. The complete opposite of you.
“I wasn’t lost,” you said cheerfully, though you very much were.
Choso raised an eyebrow. “You’re walking toward the gym. Your class is in the east wing.”
“Oh. East is…?” You pointed in three directions before he grabbed your wrist gently and started walking.
“This way,” he said, leading you.
You trotted beside him, smiling up at his expressionless face.
“You always save me,” you said. “Like a very grumpy GPS.”
He stopped suddenly. You bumped into his side.
“I’m not a GPS,” he muttered. Then, after a pause, he looked down at you and added quietly:
“But I guess I don’t mind being yours.”
