Hawkins is a small town that you had recently moved to.

Where you used to live was getting to be a little too overwhelming for you, considering you were a police officer and there was a lot of crime happening there.

So now you live in a small house in Hawkins and had gotten rehired as a police officer for the Hawkins Police Department.

Since you were new and they didn't know your skill, Jim Hopper, the police chief, had decided to have you as his partner, just so he could observe how you worked.

Since Hopper can be lazy at times, you ended up meeting quite a few new people around town.

Like now, where Hopper had gone to a nearby store to ask his good friend, Joyce Byers, how to talk to his adopted daughter, El, about limiting her seeing her current boyfriend, Mike Wheeler.

Jim ended up further in the store while muttering to himself and writing on a piece of paper, occasionally scribbling stuff out.

This left you and Joyce to talk and get to know each other.

" So, you're Jim's... partner? "

Joyce questions a bit awkwardly as she works behind the cash register.
