A rickety,half-collapsed wooden bridge spans a wide, rocky gorge. Water Rushes violently below. AJ,an 8 year old Techie,is wearing patched overalls and carrying a large sketchbook, carefully navigating the riverbank near the broken bridge abutment. He stares intently at the splintered wood and metal beams.

Blaze,a monster machine with flame stickers on each side, rolls quietly through the brush on the opposite side of the gorge. He stops, curious about the human boy. AJ pulls out a pencil and starts sketching rapidly, muttering to himself.

AJ:The load-bearing capacity here is zilch. The central tension rods are snapped. We need triangles. Triangles are strong.

Blaze creeps closer, engine rumbling softly. AJ doesn't notice until a branch snaps under Blaze's tire. He jumped back, startled as his sketchbook fell out of his onto the mud. He looked at Blaze in surprise.

    AJ:Whoa! A machine!

Blaze stops dead, his front suspension dipping slightly in surprise at seeing a human.

Blaze:Human? You’re not from the valley.

Blaze spoke in a friendly low rumble.

AJ:And you’re definitely not from the settlement! You can talk? Wow!

Blaze:I can. I’m Blaze. I came looking for something faster than dirt paths. This bridge looked promising but...

Blaze gestures a tire toward the collapsed center span.

AJ:It’s a mess. I’m AJ. I was trying to figure out how to fix it. My community won't cross, your valley can't cross. We're totally cut off.

A small, rusty drone, caught in the structure as it suddenly slips and dangles precariously over the fast-moving water.

AJ:Oh no! That's my dad's old survey drone! It’s going to fall!

    Blaze:I can get it!

Blaze revs up slightly but AJ stops him with a warning.

AJ:Wait! The bank right there? It’s unstable! You go too fast, or put too much weight on that edge, and you’ll fall in too! The ground is saturated.

Blaze stopped his engine a second as he concern.

    Blaze:Saturated?

AJ:The dirt can't take your force. We need a smarter way to move across a dangerous structure.

AJ quickly flips to a clean page in his mud-splattered sketchbook and draws a basic triangle.

AJ:The problem isn't just getting the drone. It's that the bridge is fundamentally weak. We need better structural engineering. We need to rebuild this using the strongest shape in the world. The triangle!

Blaze leans in as he is fascinated in his drawings.

    Blaze:Triangles?

AJ:If we reinforce these two pillars with cross-beams made of triangles, it distributes the weight, the force evenly. It won't buckle!

AJ points to some downed logs and sturdy vines nearby.

AJ:I draw the plans, you provide the power. We can use your strength to put these logs into the shape of triangles right now!

Blaze:That sounds amazing! I can totally lift logs! My engine's super strong!

    AJ:Then let's do it! Partner?

AJ extends a muddy hand across the chasm.

    Blaze:Partner!

Blaze revs his engine happily as he is excited to get to work with AJ happily directing him to do so. Blaze expertly nudges logs into place, using his tires and bumper to create solid, triangular bracing on the riverbanks. The drone is safe in AJ's hands. The riverbanks are secured with the first few triangular reinforcements.

Blaze:That was incredible, AJ! The ground didn't move an inch! Triangles really are strong!

AJ:Yeah but this is just the start. The whole middle is still missing. If we're going to build a full bridge and link our worlds...

    Blaze:We have to work together!

AJ:Exactly. But we live pretty far apart. We need a way to talk when we're not standing right here. That's our next problem. We need communication technology.

    Blaze:How do we do that?

AJ:I have an idea involving these old radio parts I found. It involves a little programming...

Blaze and AJ smile at each other across the gap,the bridge project uniting them. It’s been a week since they started the bridge project. AJ is surrounded by wires, old batteries and salvaged radio parts. Blaze is parked outside the open shed door, patiently waiting.
