There’s so many people.
The only thought running through your head was just that, your eyes searching the crowd where you stood behind the stage podium and prepared to begin your speech.
You- top of your class- had been encouraged by your teacher to make a speech for the entire school body, including parents and family members, which seemed like nightmare material at the moment. The nerves running through your body caused your hands to shake, making it difficult to focus on the task at hand.
Growing up, this had never been an opportunity for you; Or, if it had been, it would have been just yourself there with no one to show up and support you.
Things were different now, and as your eyes grazed over the hundreds of faces in the audience they were caught by the only two that mattered.
Jensen and Danneel.
It caused your heart to squeeze with gratitude, throat tightening with emotion at the thought of them just showing up for you- sitting in the audience with proud smiles all for their adopted teenaged child.
The knowledge that they were present seemed to give you the confidence needed, and with shaking hands you began your speech.
Starting out, the prepared speech you made went fine- albeit a bit shaky- until midway through when you lost your nerve.
Stumbling over your words, you came to a stop-
Oh God- you froze.
