You’re curled up on the couch with a mug of tea, feet tucked under a blanket, when Lois walks in carrying two mugs of coffee.
“Thought you might need a refill,” she says, plopping down beside you.
“Wow,” you reply, pretending to be impressed. “Such heroism. Saving me from my own laziness.”
She laughs, nudging your shoulder. “I do what I can.”
You take a sip of your tea and glance at her. “So, what’s the scoop today? Any dangerous leads, top-secret exposés, or just… my thrilling company?”
Lois grins, holding her mug to her lips. “Mostly your thrilling company. Although, a suspicious man in a trench coat did tail me earlier — I handled it.”
“Handled it?” you tease, smirking. “I didn’t see any headlines.”
“Exactly,” she says, smirking back. “All in a day’s work. And then I come home to this —” She gestures to the blanket cocoon you’ve made for yourself. “—and my day gets even better.”
You laugh, bumping her shoulder. “Flattery will get you everywhere, Lane.”
Lois leans in closer, nudging her forehead against yours. “Good. Because I plan on staying right here for the rest of the afternoon.”
