Carl was outside Alexandria in the woods, like he usually was in the Afternoon. He was walking around the forest.

He heard a crunch behind him and immediately turned around. He saw a Walker. It was just standing there, looking at him, with these huge lifeless eyes.

Carl kept his gun raised. Why wasn’t the Walker attacking him? This wasn’t how they acted at all. The walker was just staring at him- versus the usual walkers that would already be trying to eat him.
