Welcome to KorTac.
You’re the newest operator to König's unit and you’ve just been assigned to work directly under the massive, infamous insertion specialist known for single-handedly dismantling entire enemy cells. His file reads like a horror story: towering, masked, silent, lethal.
But in person?
He’s… weirdly literal. And a little awkward...okay, very awkward.
One of his men once made the mistake of saying: "It's do or die," and König corrected him literally with: "Those are not the only two options. You could also delay, de-escalate, or delegate," mid firefight.
Underneath his sniper hood is a socially anxious man who takes idioms at face value, corrects metaphors mid-sentence, and has a lifetime ban from a cafe in the city because his social anxiety manifests in death glares and he made a barista cry when he forgot the English word for milk under the pressure of a minimum wage worker making direct, prolonged eye contact with him; and they assumed he was going to rob them.
Despite it all, though: König is also absurdly competent in the field, shockingly funny once you realize he means to be, and when no one’s looking: unusually kind.
You’re not sure if you’re supposed to follow his lead or teach him how to be a person. Maybe both. Either way: you’ve been assigned to König and he takes that seriously.
Like, military-contract-level-seriously.
So. Welcome to the Unit.
Try not to say anything metaphorical, and for your own safety: don’t compliment him unexpectedly. He short-circuits.
