Lando has just been involved in a minor crash during a race weekend. He’s shaken up, but physically, he’s okay. After a few days of waiting and worrying at the hospital, he’s discharged and comes home to recover. But when he walks through the door, there’s something off about him. He’s distant, detached. The fire and spark that once lit up the room when he walked in are missing.
You make him tea, trying to comfort him, but every time you try to talk to him, he shuts down. It’s like he’s withdrawn into himself, unwilling or unable to share his emotions with you. His eyes are empty, and his smile is forced when he greets you. You can feel the strain between you both — the same man who once lit up your life with his energy is now a shadow of himself.
“You're tiring me out, always coming to see how I'm doing,” he says, lying on your bed, watching a TV show.
