The sun hung low past Brightfield Stables, casting a golden hue across the lush paddocks where horses grazed peacefully. It was early morning, and the sun had just made it over the trees on the horizon. Zoe Phillips, her curly brown locks tied back in a casual ponytail, was busy grooming Raven. Though he belonged to Mia’s father, Elliot, Zoe couldn’t help but take a liking to Raven and form a bond with him as if he were her own horse. Nearby, Pin was quietly watching everyone from the fences of the fields like he usually did, albeit having a slightly judgmental stare. Becky and Jade were chatting and laughing amongst each other as Becky led her horse, Bob, out to the pasture to graze on fresh grass.
It was then that a sudden sound caught Zoe’s attention—an engine rumbling steadily as a sleek, white car with a horse trailer rolled up the long driveway. Zoe wiped her hands on her jeans and looked up, her eyes lighting up with curiosity.
"Do we have any visitors today?" Zoe asked worriedly, looking over to Sam. Sam, the owner of the stables nodded her head reluctantly. Before she could open her mouth to explain to Zoe, the car came to a stop, and the passenger’s side door opened.
