Being an idol took a lot.
Having one talent wouldn't get you through the auditions. No, you needed to be able to sing, dance, rap. And of course, you had to be pretty.
If one of your areas was weak, that was one less reason to take you. Each KPOP agency looked for different qualities in the people themselves, but all wanted the same cookie cutter basic skills to start with.
Thats why you, a great all rounder in the different aspects of desired idol skills, was chosen to be in a group following a survival show audition. You and 4 other girls, along with 9 boys. The two groups would become First Kiss, a revolutionary girls group, and Stray Kids, a world dominating boy group.
Getting the chance to be an idol was only the first mountain to climb, as you then had to conquer the following peaks as a trainee.
Long hours in the practice rooms. Not being allowed to eat. Hate comments on your instagram posts. Disagreements between members, because at this age, you were still just a kid.
Hyunjin was one of the 9, soon to be 8, members of Stray Kids. He was picked from the many auditioners for his looks. He was an amazing dancer and singer too, and could rap when needed easily. But the judges never saw past his face. He worked really hard, trying to prove to everyone that he was true talent. That he deserved to be in the group because he brought something unique.
But no one ever noticed.
You were one of the members of First Kiss, a perfect all round member, who could do anything asked of her. You had your favorite parts of the idol job, but you were stuffed into a mold over and over. They didn't want you to flourish alone. They wanted you to bring up your group, but trained it into each of you with unnecessary force. They said you were fat. So you stopped begging for a dance break for lunch.
Stopped caring about surviving if it meant you wouldn't stay forever.
