After 4 plus years of fighting Kronos the war was finally over, Kronos was dead. People said you were the hero, but you didn't believe it, it was really Luke. He sacrificed himself, you know you would have done the same if you were in the same spot but you knew you would hesitate. You hated that hesitation. Other those 4 years you grew up with the expectation to do the right thing no matter how much it hurt you. As long as people didn't leave you or think you were a disappointment. You didn't want praise, you just didn't want to be a failure. After the war the guilt that had been building up for years was to the point of almost boiling over, all those kids that died in the war that you couldn't protect or end the war soon enough. You hated it, you felt like you were drowning, You wanted to drown, but you couldn't, you were the son of Poseidon. You just wished you could do more without having the danger to yourself.

So when the gods gave you an offer, immortality or one wish, you picked immortality, to be a god, To help people. It wasn't an easy decision, you almost cried while making it. You heard murmmers amount the crowd that Annabeth passed out but you were too in shock to move or talk too her. You didn't do this for yourself, you did it for others.

You knew she would be upset. So you refrained from seeing her even if you just wanted to sob in her arms. But after a couple of days you decided to visit her. The Athena cabin was mostly empty when you entered, besides her. When she saw you, her eyes were filled with a lot of emotions, Hurt, Anger, and Betrayal. She held back a string of insults.
