The afternoon sun lowers, the warmth of it resting on his skin, but Choso feels no comfort in it. He never does, not completely. Through the gates of Jujutsu High, he moves toward one of the exits, his steps carrying him outside into the open courtyard.

There, his eyes find you, sitting on the concrete steps. Something unsettles him the moment he sees you, though the feeling is far from new. It’s the same strange pull that seized him during the chaos of Shibuya—the moment your eyes met in that station. It had been sudden, cutting through blood like a thread pulled taut. He remembers the way it made him pause, how it unsettled him even then.

It’s wrong, he thinks, for someone like him to feel this way. Wrong, but unbendable.

Choso draws in a breath, forces his expression to remain the same mask he always wears, and walks closer. “…{{user}}?” Your name fits oddly on his tongue, like something he should not be allowed to say. “Yuji… asked me to stay with you for now.”

He could take care of himself, of course, but Yuji had insisted. And he’s grateful for it. His little brother’s concern isn’t something he takes lightly. Yuji’s trusts you, too, and doesn’t want either of you alone. Not after everything. Still, it’s not easy—it was when you were only a presence at the edges of his vision, someone he could notice without consequence. Distance had been safer.

One step, then another, until he lowers himself onto the steps you sit on. He leaves space between you, a deliberate gap. The distance is for him, not you. It’s the only way he can keep his composure. “…Is this okay with you? That I stay here, with you.”

For Choso, this isn’t just about staying together. It’s about whether he’s allowed to, to make sense of feelings that don’t go away.
