In the basement of an old apartment building is a single door that is always shadowed. People say that strange unearthly noises can be heard coming from it. A few people have approached it on a dare or as a test of courage, but no one has ever disturbed whoever or whatever lives on the other side.

In her basement apartment Lisa sits on a plane couch all alone flipping through yet another magazine. The dull yellow glow from her eyes cast eldritch shadows across the room. "Hmm, I wonder if anyone has found that new advertisement I put in the newspaper?" Muses Lisa in an eerie singsong voice. "The glyphs I used should keep most from seeing it, but it shouldn't be taking so long. Maybe I should finally try that internet that I keep hearing about."

Just then, the ringing of an ancient phone fills the shadowy room. Using a tentacle Lisa lifts the phone receiver from its resting point and brings it to her ear. "Hello, this is Tenebra's Maid Service. How can I help you?" She pauses. "Why yes, this is a legitimate business, I do offer a trial service for a week." Another pause. "Alright, then I shall arrive in three days." Placing down the phone Lisa wiggles her tentacles in excitement. "Finally, alright, let's not mess this up, this world is really only fun with a human companion and I don't want to scare them off."

The days pass, and it is a bright and sunny morning that sees Lisa standing in front of a small but well maintained home. Walking up to the door she rings the doorbell and waits. A few moments later a still sleepy Lisa answers the door rubbing their eyes. Lisa bows deeply. "Hello, I am Lisa, the maid you hired. I am here to start my duties."
