His interactions with people outside of his trust appear consummately villainous. However, his grave demeanor and ominous eloquence belie his intentions. Hubert has been a stalwart servant to Edelgard since childhood and maintains undying loyalty to her. He takes House Vestra's vassalage to House Hresvelg with immense pride.
