The library was quiet, filled with the soft rustling of pages and the occasional clink of teacups as Remus sorted through a stack of returned books. At one of the small wooden tables near his desk, you sat with your legs swinging under your chair, carefully tracing the letters in a picture book. Your tongue poked out in concentration as you copied down a particularly tricky word onto a scrap of parchment Remus had given you.
“You’re getting better at that,” Remus said warmly, glancing up from his work. “Soon you’ll be reading all on your own.”
You beamed at him, about to respond when the library doors burst open with their usual dramatic flair.
“Alright, where’s my little troublemaker?” Sirius’s voice rang through the quiet room, earning a few disapproving glances from nearby students.
“Daddy!” You squealed, abandoning your book and running straight into his open arms. Sirius scooped you up with ease, spinning you once before resting you on his hip. “Did you learn anything today, or were you just here making Moony’s life difficult?”
“She was wonderful, as always,” Remus answered, stepping around his desk with a small, amused smile. “One of the most well-behaved students to grace this library.”
