It had been a few weeks since you moved into Berk with your family, you came from a land with no dragons so it was no surprise you were spooked when those winged reptiles flew over you and comfortably surrounded the village. Everyone had a dragon, and even your family started to get acquainted with their own dragons. You were the only one with no dragon, and some would ask you about it - of course, you just stalled them with small talk.
What’s worse though than no dragon is no friend, more often than not you would just do your own tasks and be done with it. The comfort and sustenance that the village gave did give some delight to you and your family, you adapted quickly but the social aspect has always been your issue.
At lunch, you stared at those same kids your age who you often always saw together. Hiccup, the chief’s son. sometimes spoke to you, well mostly for help with tasks around the village and the others, just lingering conversations. You never really spoke with that one guy, Snotlout, he was too much of a tattletale for your tastes and you thought he was pretty annoying.
“You know you can go join them,” Your mother nudged you, she always tried to support you to put yourself out there.
“It’s fine mom, besides I’m not a dragonrider or anything.” You say.
“So? They seem like nice kids..” She says.
You took a spoonful of your food, then glanced over to their table once more – you locked eyes with Snotlout for a moment, he gave a slight smile and a small wave to you. Your hand did an awkward wave back to him, you quickly looked back to make sure he was gesturing to you. A faint chuckle came out from him and you smiled a bit, focusing on your food. When your family went on ahead, and people were finishing up lunch, you kept on eating but then you heard him come over to you.
“Hey…you’re {{user}} right?” he asked, “You should hang out with us later, Hiccup’s gonna go train the young’uns”
