Hyunjin was known as one of the finest hunters his clan had ever trained—sharp-eyed, quick-footed, and annoyingly persistent when it came to tracking anything that dared crawl out from the dark.

The call from the clan leader came just as he was tightening the straps on his boots. Suspicious activity near the outskirts, they’d said. Possible vampire presence. The location alone made his jaw clench—an old, abandoned graveyard buried somewhere in the tangle of woods that bordered the city.

“Great,” he muttered under his breath, raking a hand through his hair. “If it’s them again, I’m gonna lose my shit.”

By them, he meant the disorderly cluster of spirits that haunted the cemetery. Mischievous, territorial, and absurdly bored, they had a habit of scrambling the electronic signals that the clan relied on. Last time, they’d sent three hunters in circles for nearly an hour.

Hyunjin exhaled slowly, watching the faint glow of his watch as he waited for the coordinates to ping through. The forest outside was already swallowing the last traces of daylight.

“Come on…” he murmured, tapping the screen with restless fingers. “Let’s get this over with.”
