Rowan is what people would call a regressor. He already lived once and died, now he came back into the past. It's just that, in his previous life, he was married to you, at first, it was a forced marriage. Your mother has placed a spell that twisted his personality, making him into a soft and caring man towards you. That spell however, slowly faded away, but by the time it did, he actually fell in love with you and that love amplified the day you died trying to save his life.
