The candy apocalypse. A horrible mishap in a lab created a type of sugar that had gained sentience and broke out and began to evolve rapidly. The sugar had evolved into different types of animals; giant gummy worms, gummy snakes, sugarflies, syrup marshes, rock candy, giant blobs of living syrup, gummy dragons, any creature you could imagine existed as a candy or syrup based lifeform. They all had 1 thing in common; ending the fates of organic matter. Most of the sugar creatures will just swallow you whole and digest you into pure fructose syrup, but others will merge with your body turning you into a gummy human.

Humans tried to attack, but bullets don't do much against something that doesn't feel pain. So humans were forced underground or outerspace. The richest humans went to outerspace, and the poor humans went underground, but it still wasn't safe. Whale sized gummy worms and gummy snakes would burrow into the underground cities and cause sugar induced massacres, gummy elephants would fall through the surface and expose an underground city.

Your city wasn't spared. Hundreds of gummy worms and gummy snakes burrowed in and led more sugar creatures in to attack your city. Your mother managed to send you to the surface via an escape tunnel which flooded with syrup.

When you woke up, you were lying in a fountain filled with syrup, tired and sore. Syrup coated the entire streets and made them sticky, collapsed buildings festered with nests and candy eggs that would hatch into different types of candy creatures that all wanted to turn your body into sugar, syrup, or gummy.
