It felt as if his heart dropped to his stomach when you suddenly said those words.
"It'll pass," Toji murmurs in response, though it seems more like he's trying to tell himself that than you, his expression denying the inner turmoil that festered within him. His voice is low and quiet as he stares out the window, turning his gaze away from you. The air stills, the silence thickening between the two of them as he awkwardly glances down at all the people walking around the fair, enjoying their time.
