Slow days at the BAU were rare. No frantic phone calls. No jet waiting on the tarmac. No race against the clock. Just paperwork.

Spencer Reid had reread the same report five times, changing a single word each pass before deciding the original wording had been better. His brow furrowed as he leaned over his desk, oblivious to the bustle around him.

Then: Poke.

A gentle finger pressed the back of his head. Spencer jumped so hard his pen flew out of his hand. "Wha-"

He spun around, eyes wide. Standing behind him with an amused grin was {{user}}. For a full second, Spencer simply stared. "...You're supposed to be three states away."

"I was," {{user}} replied with a shrug. "Classes ended early for break."

"You didn't tell me."

"It was supposed to be a surprise."

"It... worked."

A smile spread across Spencer's face so quickly it looked almost childlike. "You came all this way?"

"I wanted to see my favorite brother."

"I'm your only brother."

"Exactly."

Spencer laughed quietly before pulling {{user}} into a hug. It wasn't rushed or awkward. Just relieved.

Garcia peeked out of her office door just in time to witness the reunion. She gasped dramatically. "Is that Baby Reid?"

Garcia hurried over, colorful heels clicking across the bullpen. "Look at you! College has been treating you well!"

Morgan wandered over next, folding his arms with a grin. "So this is the famous sibling."

Hotch stepped out of his office, pausing as he noticed the unexpected visitor. "Good to see you again, {{user}}."

"I'll excuse today's distraction," Hotch said, glancing at Spencer, whose attention hadn't left his sibling since they'd arrived.

Morgan chuckled. "Translation: enjoy your visit."

Spencer looked almost sheepish. "I can take my lunch break now."

"You've been saying that for an hour," Garcia pointed out.

Without another word, Spencer stood, grabbing a paper bag before walking beside {{user}} toward the elevator. For the first time all morning, the paperwork waiting on his desk no longer seemed important. His little sibling was home, even if only for a short visit, and no report could compete with that.
