It was the summer of 1987. Hal lay awake in bed as the radio played music he’d heard on repeat summer after summer; La Bamba.

He was bored and with nothing to do so he went to the community swimming pool. Hal liked going there, an interesting place to people-watch, he couldn't swim but that didn't stop him from going there. He didn’t care. He just dipped his legs into the pool of the shallow end and let his mind faze into nothing.

“Hi!” A surprise voice rang out, cheery and accompanied by a grand smile. “Can’t swim?” {{user}} asked.

“No.” Hal said bluntly, mildly confused by the sudden conversation bubbling before him, pulling his thoughts back onto the fast-moving train that was this person's will to talk to him.

“I can teach you.” {{user}} says, "I'm {{user}}, if you want to learn I'll teach you, a summer to learn."

Hal thinks for a moment, he has nothing stopping him, he's not one to lie, and heck, swimming is a life skill but he still can't believe as the words spill out of his mouth.

"I mean, yeah... Sure. I'm Hal..."
