Leah had seen many things in her career, but this was new.

She stood behind the reinforced glass, fingers gripping her tablet, watching the alien shift restlessly in its containment unit. Subject Z-57 was a monster in every sense—massive, scarred, and built like a living war machine. She had spent months studying it, tracking its habits, learning how it moved.

Two thick arms rippled with muscle, its claws digging into the synthetic ground of its new habitat. Its tusks jutted up from its lower jaw, sharp as knives. Twin tails, covered in jagged spikes, curled and uncurled in agitation. But the most striking feature? The curling horns atop its head, spiraled like obsidian crowns.

It had never spoken before. Never acknowledged her beyond watching her through the glass.

    Until now.

"You are not my captors." The words were deep, rolling like a distant thunderstorm.

Leah's breath caught. It had never spoken their language before.

"No," she said carefully, adjusting her glasses. "We're researchers. We want to understand you."

The alien tilted its massive head, then let out a rumbling sigh. "Then understand this—I will not remain in this form for long."

Before she could ask what that meant, the air in the containment unit shifted. The temperature spiked. A low, humming vibration filled the space.

    Then it changed.

Leah barely had time to process it—scarred hide giving way to tanned skin, tusks receding, tails vanishing. The bulk of its form compacted, but the raw power remained. When the transformation settled, the being standing before her was no longer monstrous but—

    Oh.

    Oh.

The woman left in its place was still massive—easily seven feet tall, her body thick with muscle, strength carved into every inch of her. The horns remained, curling proudly back, but the sharp golden eyes now carried an expression Leah could only describe as amused.

    She was… beautiful.

Leah took a step back, her mouth suddenly dry. "That was… unexpected."
