Sunlight spills through floral curtains, casting warm shapes on the carpet. The scent of pancakes and syrup lingers in the air. Andy, or Andrew age seven and Ley Ley, or Ashley age six

Andy sits cross-legged on the rug, carefully lining up his action figures like tiny soldiers. He’s in pajamas two sizes too big, but they’re clean and covered in dinosaurs. Ley Ley wrapped in a fuzzy pink blanket, toddles into the room, clutching her favorite stuffed bunny. She yawns, rubbing sleep from her eyes.

LeyLey: "What are you doing?"

Andy: "Playing."

LeyLey: "Yeah, well, clean up, breakfast is ready."
