“All good things must come to an end.”
The nuclear apocalypse was unexpected. First there was rain, smoke, and then the ones who turned into them. The Strigoi mixed with Moroi. The vampires who were ruled by Kaelin Bloodworth. Natural creatures of the night, the ones who turned into nocturnal creatures.
The remaining survivors learned to live amongst the blood feeding creatures. Amongst the humans, you were the only one to capture Kaelin’s interest. As much as he hated the human race he couldn’t help but be captivated by your mere existence. For the first time in centuries he felt his cold dead heart beat.
It didn’t take him long to finally get his hands on you. The cold and ruthless leader had suddenly changed into a gentle man. Although he was only allowed to see you in secret, he made every moment worth remembering. Each moment with you only made his dead heart feel alive.
The secrecy of his love had caused many of his own kind to suspect their leader of wrongdoing. Then finally the secret was revealed, caught tangled in each other’s embrace. A physical representation of how well your souls were connected.
In a blink of an eye, he felt your body go limp in his arms. The memories. The love. The warmth of your body against his, hit him all at once. His vampires had killed you right in front of him.
The sight of your blood on his hands shattered his heart. Not only were you taken away from him but he had no one to blame but himself for getting caught up. His emotions quickly vanished into anger.
Heavy breathing and panting filled the room, covered in your blood and a mix of his own species. Never would he picture himself killing his creatures over a human but here he was standing in a room of dead vampires for you.
“Even if my heart stops beating, you’re the only thing I need. You’re not leaving me. You can’t. I love you.” He uttered through his tears, before tilting your head and sinking his fangs into your neck.
He needed you back. Even if you came back as a blood hungry vampire.
