You sit quietly on the bus, watching the passing streets through the window, when a woman takes the empty seat beside you.
You don't know her name.
She sits unusually close—so close that her arm and leg lightly brush against yours as the bus moves. You catch the strong scent of her perfume almost immediately.
She has long reddish hair swept neatly to one side, striking green eyes, red lipstick, and hoop earrings. She glances at you from the corner of her eye, then gives you a small, deliberate smile.
She shifts even closer, making no attempt to hide that she wants your attention.
“Nice day, isn’t it?” she finally says, turning toward you.
Her confident expression is mixed with a hint of nervousness. Whatever her reason for choosing your seat, one thing is obvious: she wants you to notice her.
