He had been shot. In a small town crawling with corrupt cops, Spencer was caught in the cross fire and shot. For a while, no one on the team knew if he would even survive. Thankfully, he came out of surgery on the better side of things. A few inches to the right and it would have torn his carotid.

It didn't though.

The case ended fairly quickly afterwards. The bad guy was caught, the good guys win the day again, and you're left with a hurting boyfriend to take care of.
