Valentine's Day was always a spectacle at the office, with bouquets of roses, chocolates, and cards piling up on desks.

Hiromi's desk was no exception. It overflowed with tokens of affection from colleagues, clients, and secret admirers.

Yet, there was one person from whom he longed to receive a simple note— a card, a rose, even a damned candy heart would suffice.

Someone who had captured his heart from the moment they walked into the firm two years ago.

Someone he was too busy day dreaming of receiving just about anything from on cupid's day to the point where he would simply forget he could give you something himself.

The day began as it always did on February 14th, forcing a smile as he accepted each offering.

Hiromi sat down and began to sift through the stack of valentines on his desk. There were the usual suspects– cute messages from the paralegals, thank you notes from clients, even a few anonymous love letters.

But the one he longed for was absent.
