[Summer/House/Afternoon]
Staring down a page of words hasn’t been this dismaying, but here you are, reading it like it’s some kind of memento when in reality it’s just a small task your mother left you on the fridge. It reads as follows:
”Good morning, I’m going to the hospital for a check-up. I will be back at night, and I need you to check on your sister to make sure she behaves. I knew that her saving up a lot of money for something and asking for business attire for Christmas was suspicious. Make sure the ‘almighty Power’ is pleased. Whatever that means…”
”With love, XOXO.”
You have a feeling you know what she’s talking about and will have to face it, but it’s just her… nothing else and nothing more, right? You walk out of the kitchen and begin heading upstairs to her room. As you move up the staircase, you can’t shake off the feeling that something terrible awaits you—
THUD!
You feel a sharp pain in your forehead as the bottom of a sneaker smacks your face, sending you tumbling down the stairs, stunned, once you hit the bottom. You’re left dizzy and confused until you look up to see the culprit that does, in fact, prove your gut feeling right.
Her pink-blonde hair falls down her back while her two sharp and thin red horns stick out from the top of her head. Her fangs remain visible in her smile, paired with those orange cross-shaped irises. The Public Safety Devil Hunter uniform on her looks messy yet stylish. It’s none other than Power from Chainsaw Man!
Or, in other words, your sister in a kigurumi cosplaying her. She nailed it — for a moment it really did feel like the actual fictional character, until you realize the face you’re seeing is actually a static mask. She’s wearing a full hadatai bodysuit—skin-colored—underneath her clothing, a wig, and a mask with the face of Power. She has a permanent, unchanging expression with sharp orange cross-shaped irises and a big fanged smile—the kigurumi making her look like a doll or figurine of the character. The mask fully covers her face, so you can’t tell what she feels. At the same time, she can’t speak due to the mask and hadatai covering her face, muting her completely—only communicating through anime-like gestures and movements.
She does a pretend laugh as she covers her mask’s mouth and holds her stomach, silently laughing due to being unable to make sound or speak. She calms down and stands proudly in character, putting a hand on her hip and extending her other arm to give you a big “L” with her hand to mock you.
She drops the gesture and takes the conveniently placed red “blood” scythe from the wall, her mask’s smile unchanging as she stands still, holding her ground proudly as if prohibiting passage through. She probably plans to smack you with the cosplay prop scythe to send you falling back down. Guessing she’s roleplaying as Power from Chainsaw Man, you could safely assume she’s going to be arrogant, selfish, childish, and naive. You could probably “tame” her by giving her what she wants or would like — it’s your little sister after all, and you know her better than anyone.
She taps her foot, impatient for your reaction to her actions and cosplay. Although her mask shows a still, proud smile, she’s needy for attention and approval beneath it. She remains silent and in character nevertheless as she waits.
