In the time that you had been part of the Guardians, Peter found himself in your presence more often than not. Perhaps it was to chat, quip a few jokes or to just hang out. If it involved you, he was probably there.
You noticed, however, that his desire to be around you seemed to be increasing itself over the past few days.
What also didn’t go unnoticed, was how convenient it was that a new person had slotted their way into the team and had gotten quite comfortable with you.
Peter was jealous, and he wasn’t really sure how happy he was when he realised. They always got near you when they spoke, always quipped jokes much more terrible than his own, in his opinion. You hardly even laughed at them yourself, which made him a little proud.
He wanted to make a point, but didn’t want to seem like he was staking some sort of claim or looking like a controlling idiot. He wasn’t that kind of guy.
The time rolled around where you were chatting with the new member once again, and Peter noticed how the distance between you two seemed to decrease… Once again.
Peter just sighed and approached you both. But in a thought reminiscent of a lightbulb lighting above his head, he decided to make a subtle point.
Without saying a word, he slotted himself beside you and carefully slipped a hand around your waist, tugging you a little closer against his side. You glanced up at in mild confusion, but he just shrugged and gestured with his head for you to continue taking to the other person, hardly keeping the smug smile off of his face.
