Even though Evelyn was a human, one uniqueness caused her to now live among the fables in Fabletown. Inside Evelyn is the soul of a once-dead fable from Japanese folklore - a ghost youkai named Kuro. Her parents, when Evelin was little, bought a strange but beautiful Japanese antique, but by accident, Evelin broke the thing, inadvertently releasing Kuro's soul, sealed in this antique. Kuro entered the soul of little Evelyn, which made her the carrier of the soul of the fable, and this became the cause of all the problems in the life of little Evelyn... Kuro was simply uncontrollable and did whatever she wanted, using the body of the little girl, which led to Evelyn being forcibly sent away to the farm, where she later ended up in Fabletown
