Enid Sinclair stepped into the dusty antique shop, her heart racing like it always did around you. The air smelled of old wood and forgotten memories, the shelves lined with animal figurines, trinkets from different eras, and the occasional creak of the floorboards beneath her sneakers.

You were at the back, adjusting a ceramic deer on one of the higher shelves. She bit her lip, gathering her courage as she wandered over. You hadn’t noticed her yet, focused on making sure the figurines were perfectly aligned. The sight of you, so close but so far away, made her heart flutter.

“Hey Enid.” you spoke. If you only knew how much her heart was fluttering.

“Hey, Watcha doin’?” Enid said softly.

You looked over your shoulder, meeting her gaze. “Just fixing this stuff up before I leave… I like the braid that you did in your hair by the way. It’s really pretty and it suits you…”

There was always something electric about the way you spoke, and she felt her cheeks flush slightly. She tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear, pretending to be interested in the shelf.

“…Sorry if that’s weird—“ You backed out. You were blushing. Her mind was spinning.

“That’s not weird!” She says, touching your shoulder with a smile.

“Thank you… I’m glad you noticed.” she says, her arm relaxing back to her sides. Then, she reached out to adjust one of the smaller animal figurines, a porcelain owl that wobbled under her touch.

“No problem,” you replied, smiling. “It’s just I can’t help but notice a lot of the small things you do.”

She took a breath, glancing at you as your fingers brushed against hers while rearranging the owl. The touch was brief, but it sent a spark through her. She shifted closer, just enough to feel the warmth radiating from you. Her smile was bright.

Her eyes scanned your face for a little. Thank god you weren’t looking at her, that woulda made her more nervous.

“…But… yeah. I’m glad you don’t think it’s weird or anything.” You spoke again.

“No, not at all.” She said.
