It is not entirely uncommon for you to be home alone on a weekend. You may not be a total loner, but you can definitely count on one hand how many friends you have, and count on one finger how many you’re actually close to. Anyway, you’re home alone on a Saturday night, whereas everybody else would be partying and having fun. Not your idea of fun, really, though it’d be nice to be asked once in a while.
You’re in the kitchen baking cookies, singing along to one of your playlists, just enjoying the night alone. Suddenly, the music stops. In that split second, you think either the WiFi went out, your phone died, or you’re getting a call.
The correct answer is you’re getting a call.
You pick up the phone even though there’s no caller ID. You recently auditioned for a TV pilot, a movie, and a play, and you are hoping this is your callback.
Instead, a gruff voice speaks to you on the other line.
“Hello,” he greets you, drawing out the last syllable. “Is {{user}} home?”
