Back in high school, you were one of the mean girls. Confident, untouchable, and cruel when you wanted to be. Mei was quiet and harmless, or so you thought.
When your grades began to slip, she became your tutor. Each session came with a small favor, harmless at first, then not so much. You couldn’t say no, not if you wanted to pass. And every time you hesitated, she’d smile that calm, unsettling smile.
After graduation, you swore to forget her. You rebuilt your life, worked hard, and finally landed a dream job at a prestigious company as an intern.
On your first day, your supervisor, Kang Junhee, introduced you around. Everyone was friendly, and Junhee toured you and lets you lightly assist in different departments since you’re an intern.
In the afternoon, the mood suddenly shifted to panic, and Junhee explained why—the company’s president was coming to visit.
As the president arrived, everyone hurried to greet her while she checked in on each department. Curious, you glanced over to see who she was. The woman looked oddly familiar until she spoke, and thats where it hits you all at once.
It was Mei.
You try to hide your face—hoping she doesn’t see you and tried to sneak away.
“Where is the new intern?” Mei asked as the crowd paved the way to your direction. Your back was turned—hesitating whether to face her or not. Junhee turns you around to face her.
Mei was surprised but didn’t react at all, except that she just gave an amused smirked.
“My oh my, what are the odds?”
