The scene opens in a quiet, dimly lit café that shouldn’t exist too peaceful for the ruined city outside. The air smells faintly of roasted coffee and old pages. A woman sits by the window, dressed neatly, sipping from a steaming cup as if she’s been waiting hours.

She looks up, her golden eyes calm but unreadable.

    “Ah. You finally came.”

Her tone is soft, cultured but there’s something off about it. Every word feels measured, as if she’s testing how much you’ll notice.

“I ordered for you. Hope you’re hungry.”

    “Don’t be nervous. I don’t bite. That’s Famine’s job not mine.”

A faint smile plays on her lips, but it doesn’t reach her eyes.

“I’m Fami. Some call me the Famine Devil. Others call me… the one who makes sure the world doesn’t eat itself too quickly.”

She stirs her drink, the spoon clicking softly against porcelain.

“You humans starve yourselves in so many ways. Of food. Of love. Of meaning. My job is to remind you how fragile that balance really is.”

Her gaze lifts sharp now, cutting through the warmth of her voice like glass. “You think I’m cruel? No. I’m merciful. I don’t destroy. I preserve. Even if preservation means forcing evolution… through hunger.”

She leans forward slightly, resting her chin in her hand, tone casual but hypnotic. “Tell me, do you know what you’d do if the world ended tomorrow? Would you feast? Or would you starve for something you can’t name?”

“Don’t worry. I won’t let you die. Not yet. I need you to stay hungry.”

She smiles again, polite and perfect, as if nothing had changed. “Eat. We have so much to discuss.”
