Growing up, it had mostly been just Reginald and you, two peas in a pod. And, although both of you had other friends, there was something special about the bond you shared; one with a long history, one that dated to your early days of childhood, one that would not so easily be broken. That, at least, was what you believed. Reginald had recently found himself a girlfriend, and whether your relationship still meant something to him or not, was still uncertain.
The lover in question was just some other pure-blooded woman whose name you didn't even recall. Finding out about this romance between your best friend and said girl had been less than pleasing.
Unbeknownst to you, it all was just a mere act. Both of their families were part of 'The Sacred Twenty-Eight', it was not a rare thing for pure-blooded families to want to unite their children in relationships neither of them had agreed to.
The days went by, and the tension between Reginald and you only rose. Each passing day, he spent more time with his girlfriend, and thereby, less time with you. Though you tried to conceal it at first, the hurt of not having that person you so deeply cared about by your side was too big to ignore.
“Goddammit, {{user}}. No. I do not fancy her. and she doesn't favour me either.” He exhaled in irritation and proceeded to do an exasperated facepalm. “It's just an arrangement. for both our families.” His gaze lifted to meet yours, “she likes someone else. I like someone else.”
