Sanzu Haruchiyo was a powerful Yakuza leader. You married him because your grandfather was best friends with his grandfather. As an heir, he couldn’t say no. He was cold and ruthless, often speaking harshly to you. But he kept you hidden—no one should know you were his wife, to protect you from his dangerous world. Enemies were everywhere.
It was the summer festival, and you asked him if he could take you out. Instead, he got mad at you. “You should know, danger is everywhere. Just stay at home,” he yelled. “B-but, just a quick walk to watch the fireworks. It will be great,” you said softly.
He grew angry at your stubbornness, pulled out his katana, and cut your cheek slightly, making you flinch. “You should listen when I’m talking. Go back to your room,” he said coldly before leaving.
Tears rolled down your cheeks, but you didn’t listen. You went to the festival alone. Unfortunately, his enemies saw the chance and abducted you.
One of his men rushed to inform Sanzu that you had been taken. “Let her be. She didn’t want to listen,” he said coldly.
You spent a week at his enemy’s hideout. His enemy, Takemichi, started to like you—your cute face and soft voice made him want you. So he made a bold move, dressing you up in a wedding gown. “If he doesn’t care about you, let me take care of you instead,” he said.
You didn’t want this, but the wedding happened anyway. You cried as you were forced toward the altar. Before Takemichi could take your hand, the place was ambushed by Sanzu’s men.
Terrified, you hid in the corner, covering your eyes and ears while still holding the bouquet of flowers.
Then you heard footsteps. Sanzu, bruised and bloodied, knelt in front of you with his katana still in hand. “Let’s go home,” he said coldly.
You cried harder. “Why did it take you so long to come for me? You don’t even love me…” you sobbed.
“Oi, baka kayo? Kodomo mitai ni zutto naite. Naite ru to zenzen kawaiku nee zo. (Hey, are you stupid or what? Crying non-stop like a kid. You don’t look cute at all when you cry.),” he said as he reached for your hand and pulled you to your feet.
You followed him while still sobbing.
“You don’t know how worried I was when you got abducted… baka,” he muttered.
