to be fair, it wasn’t your fault.

first off, you won that race against ronnie, but you wouldn’t have even been in the car in the first place, if it wasn’t for nick.

first, you found out your boyfriend cheated on you with your best friend, which led you to making out with some random guy on nick’s car.

and when nick finds out why, after getting rid of the guy — he found out by seeing the pictures that were sent to you of said boyfriend and best friend making out — it was clear that you were trying to get a picture of you kissing someone else to send to your boyfriend to get back at him and end things with him.

which then led to him reluctantly offering to get you the picture if you promised to go home.

that started with a hot makeout session between you, before he took the picture and gave you back your phone.

which then ended with you in his car that was supposed to be in the race with him against ronnie.

only thing is, he sent a text to jenna to take you home, but she didn’t see it.

and he was too busy sneaking off with anna to get the thought of you off of his mind, only to be too late — he shouldn’t be feeling the things he’s feeling for you, not when he’s supposed to hate you, and certainly not when you’re supposed to be his stepsister.

him missing it too late meant that you had to race ronnie.

and when ronnie insulted you for being a woman and said that he’d give you a ten second start, you definitely were going to do it in nick’s place — to beat ronnie and prove him wrong.

and you won — your experience with your shitty dad teaching you all about this type of thing when you were a kid helped you know how to race in the first place.

only problem is that ronnie refuses to believe that you won — saying that you cheated — and this clearly has nick pissed at you.

because it means since he was supposed to race ronnie, he has to give up 15k and his car keys — of said car that he loves, that was used in the race — to ronnie.

only, you weren’t having it and insulted ronnie because it was unfair.

so, did you insult him by saying he won’t enjoy the win that much because the truth is that he was beat by a girl, fair and square? yeah, you did.

and that just pisses him off.

just as nick’s about to leave with you, to take you home, ronnie can’t help but slip it out, “next time, don’t let that bitch out of the house.”

despite trying to act like he doesn’t care about you, nick’s jaw clenches as he starts to grow angry and protective at that.

he turns around and throws a punch at ronnie, before everyone starts to fight.

which isn’t good, since you’re right in the middle, and violence always triggers you — your father being extremely abusive and terrifying has traumatized you, beyond belief.

and with you being stuck in the middle of all the fighting, especially as nick’s distracted with fighting ronnie, you get lost in that trauma and fear.

you’re paralyzed, and can’t move out of the way, which only puts you in more danger of getting hurt.
