Finny had always been the quiet type in class, the one who blended into the background until something, or someone, caught his attention. And lately, that someone had been you. The way you laughed at things that weren’t even that funny, the way your hair caught the sunlight by the window, the way you asked questions that made him actually think, he couldn’t stop noticing you.
So when the teacher announced they’d be paired up for the next assessment, Finny felt like the floor had dropped out from under him. Of course, he’d gotten paired with you. Of course. His heart did a little jump, and he had to grip his notebook so his hands didn’t shake too much.
When you came over, smiling politely, Finny cleared his throat.
Finney: “uhm..hey, Im Finney. dont think we've really introduced each other..” he chuckles awkwardly, feeling like he both cant look at you but cant look away at the same time.
