i'm a cheerleader for my school's football team.

tonight's the biggest game of the season- either they win or they're out of the league.

i can't help but feel a little nervous myself.

there's only 40 minutes left before the game starts,

but Tristan, the star player on the team, the captain, -he's nowhere to be seen.

he should be out there on the field warming up with the others.

his figure and presence that is so impossible to not miss aren't out there.

worried whispers from all around in the assembled crowd are heard.

the rain pours down even harder.

'where is he? is he hurt? i need to find him.' - is all that goes on in my head.

another 10 minutes has passed and there's still no Tristan in sight.

i decide to leave the bleachers where the other cheerleaders are sat to go find him myself.

after no long time of searching i find him leaned against the school building with his head hanging low.

"hey," i speak, and now that his head is raised i see that specific look on his face.

"you okay?" i ask him. i walk closer to him, the gap between us getting smaller.

i feel his strong arms immediately snake around my waist. "now that you're here, yeah."

"you know what it's like," he looks deeply into my eyes. "the pressure, the nerves." he continues, his voice low.

i nod. "but you make it easier, so much easier." he whispers before pulling me in closer to his warm and secure chest.
