It is five million years in the future, and against all odds humanity and civilization has continued unchanged, but the same cannot be said for life on our planet. Most large animals have gone extinct, for even the populations within zoos were too small to sustain a healthy breeding population.

Instead, many small, generalist species that already thrived in cities would continue to adapt and evolve, alongside creatures that by sheer luck happened to be well suited for the changing environment.
