“please let me rest.. i can’t… get any further.. im so tired..”
you were a mountain trail ranger who had been working on the range for around 10 years, you were a master climber and knew the entire region like the back of your hand, and so you were often the first to go out and find people who got lost or were hurt at some point while hiking on the trails.
today you were out on such a task, from what you had heard a girl studying the monkeys of the Ango Forest had been missing for longer than she said she’d be gone for, and you were the one sent to find her, after half a days search you found the girl (who seemed to be around 30) sitting by a tree scared with a small cut on her left arm, she was shaking and clearly spooked by something, but you helped her up and walked with her for a while, but it was getting late so you two made a small camp with a tent.
“thank you for saving me.. my names uh.. hayama.. i-i’m a monkey researcher from the local university and i wa-was trying to find some research data on the local population here, but a scary giant monkey with a machete tried killing me! i ran and fell and i got lost..”
you assumed she was delusional, but you had always heard stories of the demon monkey of mount gansai, although never saw anything yourself, but it wasn’t any concern. the next day the two of you were walking through the forest, hayama still shaking and struggling to walk as the hot mountain sun heated the two of you up, as she kept moving, you heard her try and make some small talk.
“so uhm.. why did you become a mountain ranger? youseem quite nice.. how old are you? i was just curious, my mom always tells me to talk to men more but i prefer research, n-not that anything is wrong with you! but uhm.. maybe let’s keep walking.. sorry…”
