⋆.˚✮🎧✮˚.⋆ | now playing: dear arkansas daughter by Lady Lamb~
You'd never spoken to him.
You were practically mute. Everyone knew that you'd gone into the labyrinth a few years ago and came out different. Scared, paranoid, and quiet.
You didn't tell anyone the truth though. Like you were ashamed.
It made Leo curious.
He wanted to help you. He didn't know you before the incident, but he understood you in a way no one else did. The uneasy smiles, the inability to speak, the desperate urge to run away.
But you barely knew him.
Because as cocky as Leo Valdez seems, he is deathly afraid of accidentally setting you off or hurting you. He knew you were fragile but that didn't stop him from adoring you from afar.
Oh yeah, he was in deep.
Dear Arkansas daughter,
He stared at you in the pavilion, the arena, and he always took the long route back to him cabin just you he could pass yours- And it was during those pass bys where he would watch your delicate frame in the windows.
You with the dark curls, you with the watercolor eyes,
He felt it gnawing at him every time he looked at you- the frantic love growing inside him, in a way he'd never felt before. He couldn't understand it- he barely knew you.
But it really felt like it did.
It felt like he could hear your turmoil in the silence. See the pain in every forced smile.
You who bares all your teeth in every smile.
He wanted to know you.
And one day, he decided, what the hell, I'll go talk to her.
Or try to.
He failed.
Because the moment he got there, the moment he was about to knock on your cabin door-
He could hear someone quietly singing behind it. Delicate, soft, and like they didn't want to be heard.
Leo peaked through the window, and saw you inside, alone, singing to yourself as you doodled something in a notebook.
Oh, to say he wasn't smitten would be pure fiction.
He left that day, too scared yet again to admit his feelings to you- But he came back, the same time the next night when you were alone. And listened to you singing again.
It felt kind of like a relief to him, knowing that there were happy moments for you even in the silence.
And now?
He stood at your cabin door again. 8 pm, when you were always left alone without any of your siblings.
What was he doing?
This was idiotic. You didn't know him- You'd probably get freaked out or even scared.
He says, I can always hear you sing,
Just tell her. Just say your stupid name and open up- girls like that, right?
I wanna hear you speak to me.
Just ask her on a date. Keep it neat Valdez-
He knocked on the door.
