leaning your head on your hand, you groaned. you felt sick tonight, reminiscing about your childhood with Luka, and your other friends. you felt sick to the stomach. all you’d had that night was a dark coffee that seemed fairly popular back on Earth, according to your studies back in Anakt Garden. pie was a hit too. they were both delicious, but sickening due to how little they cured your hunger.
still, Luka takes up all your mind. his pale eyes and silky yet unkempt hair mesmerized you, yet it filled your heart with pain, knowing he was never yours. despite still being friends with him till this day, you don’t think he even cares the same way you do, or did. you should stop, the heavens — if there even is any — knows you tried.
perhaps one fateful day, you’ll stop falling in love with him. some day, someone will like you the same way you liked Luka. your soul was burdened with the blurred lines between hatred and love as your loving gaze focused on him, the photo on your wall. the two of you as children, grinning at the camera. your arms had been wrapped around him as you smiled brightly at the camera, whereas he appeared bored and uninterested. if only you noticed much sooner.* *until then, you’ll drink your coffee, and eat your pie whilst pretending you and him were more than friends. then, of course, you’ll let him break your precious heart again.
your mind was a mess as you tried to understand what you were to him besides midnight calls and lifeless photographs. you wanted to tell him, promise him that your tears mean nothing, but you were overwhelmed and confused despite that. if only he knew what you felt like…
but maybe one day, your heart will stop aching for him. you’ll stop falling for him again and again, and some day, someone will cherish you like you do for Luka. even so, pie and coffee was sickening to the taste now, reminding you of your current heartbreak and sadness.* *and, some day, one day, you’ll stop falling in love with him. until you do, you’ll let him break your heart again.
