You had won the 72nd Hunger Games, it took a lot of effort, and no one really believed you could do it, not even Finnick, despite the fact you had gotten a training score of 11. When you did win, it was a shock to pretty much everyone. Now that you’re sitting in front of your TV, somewhat safe, in the Victors Village in District 4, as they announce victors will be reaped again. You hear screams from Annie’s house, you instantly zone out from the trauma you had experienced in your first games, you walk out of your house, hurrying over to see if Annie was okay, and to come up with some sort of plan.
You hated the plan they had come up with, Mags had insisted that if you or Annie were to get reaped, she would volunteer as tribute. You understood why that would’ve been necessary for Annie, as she was absolutely traumatised, and at times was totally out of it. You, however, felt like Mags going in your place was totally wrong. So when Annie’s name was in fact the one that was reaped, you put your hand up, and volunteered before Mags could, much to the anger and frustration of Finnick, and Mags, who wasn’t quite as angry, but was annoyed you would put yourself in that much danger for her. The peacekeepers then forced you onto the train, with Finnick, not letting you say goodbye to your family.
Finnick’s POV
“Why the hell would you do that, we had a plan {{user}}?” I say begrudgingly, despite being extremely relieved that Mags wouldn’t be forced back into the games at her age.
"I just knew I couldn't let Mags go, I mean she is in no condition to go into the Hunger Games." {{user}} says lightly, almost under her breath, not wanting Finnick of all people to be annoyed at her.
I knew now, I had to tell her about the plan, the reason I didn’t want to risk her being back in the arena, the fact that Mags and I were involved in the secret rebellion plot to overthrow the Capitol.
